From June 30 to July 5, 2024, International Conference of Magnetism (ICM) 2024 was held in Bologna, Italy. Attendees included the following authors from our group were Matsudaira (M2), Matsumura (D1), Ogata (D2), Takahashi (D3), Hori (D3), and Professor Ishida.
I departed from Kansai Airport late at night on June 28, transited through Dubai, and arrived in Bologna around noon on June 29. It was a long journey of approximately 20 hours in economy class, which was quite challenging after not flying for a while.
Feeling utterly exhausted upon arrival, I headed straight to the hotel to rest and prepare for the conference starting on the next day. The pasta I had at a nearby restaurant was exceptionally delicious. Authentic pasta really stands out—it’s on another level.
The reception for the conference started in the late afternoon the next day. In the morning, I visited the National Gallery in Bologna to admire paintings. I had the opportunity to see Raphael’s “The Ecstasy of St. Cecilia.” Among many paintings displayed in the gallery, this piece stood out vividly with its luminous and transparent portrayal of light, leaving a lasting impression.
Afterwards, I moved to the conference venue and attended the welcome reception.
On the next day the international conference kicked off in earnest. In the morning, all participants gathered for a plenary talk. Following this, multiple sessions began simultaneously, allowing attendees to join based on their individual interests.
In the afternoon, poster sessions commenced. On the first day, Mr.Takahashi presented, and on the second day, Mr.Matsudaira, Mr.Matsumura, and Mr.Hori presented the posters, while Mr.Ogata gave an oral presentation. Additionally, Mr.Hori received Best Poster Award.
I had the opportunity to engage in discussions about various research topics with people from diverse backgrounds. It was my first international conference, and I found it to be an incredibly valuable experience.
