RESEARCH

From my graduate student days, I studied a behavior of order parameters of the Bose condensation of a helium system especially superfluid helium3, and superfluid helium4. I was especially interested in control of a texture of helium3 and identifying it by calculating of the NMR spectrum. Moreover, I studied the two-dimensional frustrated system of Ising spin which has the equivalent order parameter space to that of the superfluid helium4.

Calculations of a path integral and Green function Monte Carlo was also experienced based on the Monte Carlo calculation at that time. These two calculation methods are quite effective for helium system because of the simple particle interaction. Recently, the decomposition beyond the 2nd accuracy (Trotter formula) was discovered, and these two calculation methods using Monte Carlo technique have developed. Applying these methods to helium system is also planning in parallel.

In this project, we plan to detect the Intrinsic Angular Momentum of the superfluid helium3 A-phase. We confine the superfluid helium3-A phase in the rotation cylinder and observe a NMR resonance frequency. The Mermin-Ho structure of A phase which is realized in the cylinder is modulated by the rotation. The rotational dependence of NMR frequency tells us the IAM exists or not. The experiment of this system is carried out in ISSP of university of Tokyo.
