RESEARCH

Various intriguing physical properties of solids, represented by high-Tc and/or unconventional superconductivity, should be deeply related with dynamics of electrons in solids. So far, I have experimentally studied the fine electronic states in high-Tc cuprate and ruthenate superconductors using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). My recent interests especially lie in how the electrons behave being coupled with internal degrees of freedom such as charge and spin of electrons, lattice vibrations, or orbitals, etc., and what kind of interactions are relevant for the formation of the Cooper-pairs. Ruthenate superconductor Sr2RuO4 is widely believed to exhibit the spin-triplet chiral p-wave superconductivity with broken time-reversal symmetry. To establish a foundation on understanding new exotic quantum phenomena, expected to emerge on the surface and/or interface of the spin-triplet superconductor, it is fundamentally important to clarify the electronic and spin structures of Sr2RuO4. In this project, I will investigate the electronic and spin structures of bulk- and surface-derived states in Sr2RuO4 using the state-of-the-art high-resolution ARPES and spin-resolved ARPES systems in Hiroshima Synchrotron Radiation Center, Hiroshima University.
