RESEARCH

My main research topic was studying the high-Tc cuprates, in particular, such as physical properties of YBa2Cu3Oy (YBCO) and related systems. I have succeeded in detwinning slightly-doped YBCO and found an in-plane anisotropy originated from a possible nematicity of electrons. Another outstanding achievement was doping n-type carriers to YBCO by La-substitution for Ba.

In the present research program, I am studying topological insulators and topological superconductivity by using experimental techniques. Our high-quality crystals have been producing interesting results, but I will also study a junction between the topological insulator and another material, and search for a new superconductor based on topologically non-trivial materials.
