The academic staff members of our group are Yoshiteru Maeno (Professor), Kenji Ishida (Professor), Shingo Yonezawa (Associate Professor), and Shunsaku Kitagawa (Assistant Professor).
Our main research activities are the experimental investigation of superconductivity and magnetism.
We are mainly studying various "quantum condensates" such as spin-triplet superconductors and quantum-spin liquids, as well as quantum critical phenomena. We usually prepare our own samples of the new materials we are focusing on but we also have many interesting collaborations in Japan as well as world-wide.
Our group specializes in low-temperature physics, and we are able to measure various quantities (e.g. specific heat or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)) down to the milliKelvin temperature range.
