RESEARCH
The main research interest of my group is correlation effects on topological quantum phenomena. While topological insulators in free fermion systems have been extensively studied, correlation effects on these systems are one of the important issues in topological materials science. For example, several d- or f-electron systems have been proposed as candidate materials of correlated topological insulators, where the interplay of topological structure and electron correlation is expected to trigger novel exotic quantum phenomena. In spite of extensive studies, understanding of topological phases in correlated systems, especially a topological Mott insulator, is still not sufficient.
We will theoretically elucidate fundamental properties of the topological quantum phases and the associated exotic quasiparticles with particular emphasis on correlation effects, which play key roles in unveiling a new aspect of topological materials. We also investigate novel topological phases realized in nonequilibrium quantum systems, such as periodically driven quantum systems which can be described by Floquet theory. Through these systematic studies, we aim at establishing the basic concepts of topological quantum phenomena.
